Million Donation for Wildfire Relief by Dodgers and LA Teams

The Los Angeles Dodgers, alongside 11 other prominent sports franchises in Los Angeles, have united to make a significant impact by pledging over $8 million in donations aimed at supporting wildfire victims and the brave individuals actively battling these devastating fires.

Here’s the complete press release providing further details:

“In light of the extensive recovery efforts that the residents of Los Angeles and neighboring communities will need following the catastrophic fires, a coalition of 12 professional sports teams — including Angel City FC, the Angels, Chargers, Clippers, Dodgers, Ducks, Galaxy, Kings, LAFC, Lakers, Rams, and Sparks — have committed to an impressive total of more than $8 million to assist affected families and honor the courageous firefighters on the front lines.”

“The funds raised will benefit various organizations, including the American Red Cross, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, California Fire Foundation, Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund, World Central Kitchen, California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund, Team Rubicon, and multiple local animal rescue groups dedicated to helping affected wildlife.”

“In addition to their generous financial donations, the 12 teams have partnered with their respective foundations and the Fanatics Foundation to distribute an impressive $3 million worth of Fanatics merchandise to residents of Los Angeles who have been displaced from their homes due to the fires.”

“Alongside the clothing provided by Fanatics, the teams will also be donating thousands of additional items to be distributed during three upcoming community events. These events will showcase the teams’ individual community partners, who will be present at various locations to hand out essential items such as personal hygiene kits, school supplies, sneakers, and much more. Evacuees from the fires are invited to these distribution events scheduled for Friday, January 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dodger Stadium, SoFi Stadium, and BMO Stadium.”

“Residents of Los Angeles who can provide proof of residency in the evacuated Zip Codes will be eligible to participate. To facilitate access, bus transportation will be made available for individuals currently residing in evacuation shelters, ensuring they can reach the distribution sites at the stadiums. Furthermore, complimentary lunch will be provided to individuals and families attending these events.”

Recently, Dodgers star Freddie Freeman and his wife, Chelsea, made headlines by donating an impressive $300,000, allocating $100,000 each to three different organizations dedicated to fire relief efforts, showcasing their commitment to the community.
