
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League has proudly announced that Hershey Bears forward Hendrix Lapierre has been awarded the prestigious Howies Hockey Tape/AHL Player of the Week accolade for his outstanding performance during the period ending February 16, 2025. This recognition highlights Lapierre’s significant contribution to his team and showcases his exceptional skills on the ice.
In a remarkable display of talent, Lapierre recorded an impressive two goals and three assists over the course of two games last week, playing a crucial role in leading the Bears to victory over their closest competitor in the Atlantic Division. His performance not only helped the Bears secure essential points but also solidified their position at the top of the division, demonstrating the importance of teamwork and individual excellence in professional hockey.
On Tuesday, the Hershey Bears faced off against the second-place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in a tightly contested match. Lapierre shone brightly, contributing a goal, an assist, and a team-leading five shots on goal, which propelled the Bears to a thrilling 5-4 victory. Following up on this success, Lapierre continued to impress during Saturday’s rematch in Wilkes-Barre, where he had a sensational three-point night. His two assists on game-tying goals, including a dramatic equalizer with just 12.5 seconds left in regulation, showcased his clutch performance, culminating in a winning goal at 3:13 of overtime, securing a 4-3 victory for his team.
Since returning to the Bears on loan from Washington on December 29, Lapierre has been in exceptional form, tallying two goals and nine assists, amassing a total of 11 points in just 13 AHL games. The talented third-year professional from Aylmer, Quebec, has demonstrated his scoring prowess with a career total of 22 goals and 36 assists for 58 points across 94 regular-season games with Hershey. Additionally, he has excelled in the postseason, contributing 10 goals and 18 assists in 40 playoff contests, playing a pivotal role in helping the Bears secure the coveted Calder Cup championships in both 2023 and 2024. His remarkable performance earned him the Jack Butterfield Trophy as the most valuable player in the 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs, further solidifying his status as a rising star in the league.
Selected in the first round (22nd overall) of the highly competitive 2020 NHL Draft, Lapierre has made a notable impact in the NHL with the Capitals, accumulating nine goals and 22 assists in 84 career games. This season alone, he has recorded eight assists in 27 games, showcasing his ability to contribute effectively at the highest level of professional hockey.
