Iran travelled to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-16) success versus Germany, with Meisam Ali Pour leading the charge, scoring 13 points through a well-rounded efficiency consisting of 5 attacks, 4 blocks and 4 aces in the males’s sitting volley ball competition at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games at North Paris Arena on Tuesday,
Iran’s attack was strengthened by the efforts of Sadegh Bigdeli and Hossein Golestani, who each contributed 10 points, mainly concentrating on offense. On the German side, Dominik Albrecht and Francis Tonleu were the leading scorers with 6 and 5 points respectively. However, Germany had a hard time to keep up, especially in attacks where they tracked 40-17.
Iran developed an early lead through constant serves and sharp attacks in the opening set. Germany at first kept ball game close, with Tonleu and Albrecht attempting to install an obstacle. However, Iran slowly retreated, with Ali Pour’s effective serves and Bigdeli’s prompt blocks showing excessive for the Germans. Iran expanded their cause 21-15 before Bigdeli’s definitive attack, and a block mistake from Schiewe sealed the set for Iran 25-16.
In the 2nd set, Iran’s supremacy ended up being more obvious as they capitalised on Germany’s mistakes. Ali Pour’s aggressive serving continued to interfere with Germany’s reception, while Bigdeli and Golestani stressed the set with effective spikes. Despite a short resistance from Germany, who handled to reach double digits, Iran preserved control, eventually closing the set at 25-13 following an attack mistake by Tonleu.
The 3rd set mirrored the earlier ones, with Iran keeping their momentum. Germany revealed looks of durability, bringing ball game to 11-9 at one point, however Ali Pour and his colleagues rapidly reasserted their supremacy. The set ended with a strong attack from Isa Zirahi, settling Iran’s success at 25-16.
