Barcelona following 19-year-old Brazilian winger playing in La Liga – report

Barcelona are building a team for the future, with the likes of Alejandro Balde, Pedri, Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde and Lamine Yamal headlining the setup under Xavi. The club has started to invest in players early and building them up with the needs of the team in mind.

Balde recently signed an extension with Barça that runs until 2028, and Yamal will be the next one to follow. They will also see 18-year-old Vitor Roque join the team in January, who is destined for great things already.

The Catalans want to continue this pattern, and have set sights on 19-year-old Savio, who plays as a right-winger for Girona on loan, as per a report from Manu.

Strong start to the season for Girona and Savio

Savio has started all five games for the Catalan outfit so far this season en route their impressive start in La Liga. They have won four out of five games so far, and are level on points with Barcelona.

The Brazilian has scored one goal and set up two more in this process, including a man of the match showing against Granada, where he scored and assisted a goal each.

Barcelona’s long-standing interest

Barcelona have been keeping tabs on Savio according to the report, and have been keeping tabs on him for two-three years now, from when he was 16/17 years old.

Savio is currently on loan at Girona, and is contracted to Troyes in the second division of French football, Ligue 2. He was also out on loan last season, at PSV Eindhoven, but failed to make a mark, with only six appearances through the season.

Barcelona currently have Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and even Ferran Torres gunning for that right-winger slot, all in rather impressive form. Should Barcelona try to pursue Savio in the summer, it’ll be interesting to see where he plays.
