Ghana’s Black Princesses began their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup project with a frustrating 2-1 defeat versus Austria in their Group E opener on Monday night.
The video game started with a midfield fight, however Austria’s long balls into Ghana’s box quickly got them control.
Austria’s perseverance settled in the 12th minute when forward Hannah Fankhauser profited from a quick relocation and cross to open the scoring.
Ghana had a hard time to develop chances in the 2nd half, while Austria stayed dominant.
Austria was granted a charge in the 71st minute, which midfielder Nicole Ojukwu with confidence transformed to double their lead. Despite a late rise from Ghana, consisting of a stoppage-time objective from skipper Stella Nyamekye, Austria held company to protect a 2-1 success.
The Black Princesses will intend to remedy their opening loss when they deal with Japan on September 5th in their next group phase match. After the video game versus Japan Ghana will handle New Zealand on 8th September.
