It has been astonishing to hear how many times, throughout your career, people have mentioned that a right-shot defenseman like you would be the perfect fit for the Maple Leafs. Considering your upbringing and the influence of your family and friends, have you ever thought about it during your career?”

Roe: “Well, you know, how do you think the fan base would react if you admitted you had thought about it? Friends often say, ‘Come on, playing for the Leafs is exactly what you need.’”
Montour: “Absolutely, I do hear that, especially now. Just little things, you know, being up north lately. Even my neighbors and close friends have caught wind of it. I don’t talk much about it in the media, but fans of the Leafs and supporters across Canada are clearly aware. Just being from this area, my family and friends often hear it on the radio and see reports about it.”
“However, for the past three or four months, my concentration has been solely on winning for our team. That was something my agent had to manage, while I focused on the game. It’s important to prioritize what really matters.”
“There were indeed conversations about the Maple Leafs. When I looked at their lineup, I could see where I would fit in and how I could contribute positively. It was an exciting prospect, and there were discussions, but numerous factors come into play, including family needs and my own requirements, along with business decisions.”
