Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the permanent signing of Manchester United goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley.
The Seagulls announced the news via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.
Baggaley has spent the last two seasons at Manchester United. She has largely provided cover for first-choice keeper Mary Earps. The Red Devils have fielded Baggaley in some of their matches in the early rounds of the domestic cups. The player has proved her quality, although pushing one of the world’s best keepers in Earps out of the team was a near-impossible task. Baggaley will be hoping to get the benefit of more minutes with new club Brighton & Hove Albion in the coming seasons.
After adding Baggaley to her squad, Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Melissa Phillips said “We’re really pleased to welcome Sophie to the club.
“She is looking forward to the challenge of helping us achieve our aims for this season and the future, and her experience of the WSL will only help the squad as we move forward.”
Brighton & Hove Albion have now signed two goalkeepers on Transfer Deadline Day. The Seagulls also secured the loan signing of Chelsea keeper Nicky Evrard earlier this evening.
