For years, some NBA fans — mainly LeBron James haters — have tried to discredit the 2020 championship.
They’ve called it a COVID ring, a “Mickey Mouse” championship, an asterisk title, and whatnot, and it’s been an interesting subject for debate since that happened.
Some state winning in the bubble was actually tougher, while others think it shouldn’t even count because some lesser players were playing out of their minds.
Notably, Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard seems to think like the first group.
In a recent interview, the star said it was harder to win in the bubble because every single player was fresh, going as far as to say that there will never be a “fresher” version of him (via 2Cool2Blog).

Despite some players talking about mental health struggles, he believes that was actually his best version because everybody got some healthy sleep and was focused solely on basketball, and they were staying in a luxury resort, so it’s not like they were having a bad time at all.
It’s hard to argue with Lillard, as he averaged 37.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 9.6 assists in the first eight games of the tournament, including a 61-point masterpiece vs. the Dallas Mavericks.
His averages dropped in the first round vs. the eventual champion Lakers, but their defense had been excellent throughout the course of the entire season.
At the end of the day, everybody was under the same conditions, so it’s not like any team had any sort of edge, which is why the bubble should count anyways.
