In a noteworthy transaction, the Dodgers are sending minor league outfielder Dylan Campbell to the Philadelphia Phillies. This trade also involves the transfer of valuable international bonus pool space, according to ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel, highlighting the Dodgers’ aggressive approach to enhancing their roster.
Dylan Campbell was selected by the Dodgers in the fourth round of the 2023 MLB Draft. Over the past season, the talented 22-year-old outfielder recorded a batting line of .251/.331/.372, hitting 10 home runs and driving in 53 runs over 115 games at the High-A level. His performance demonstrated his potential, making this trade a notable development for both teams involved.
Now making his way to Philadelphia, Campbell’s departure aligns with the Dodgers’ strategy to bolster their offer to Sasaki, who, due to his status as an amateur international free agent, can only sign for a minor league contract supplemented by international bonus pool funds as part of his signing bonus.
According to MLB insider Francys Romero, the Dodgers have successfully acquired between $750,000 and $1 million in additional international bonus pool money through this trade. This influx of funds greatly enhances their ability to make a competitive offer to Sasaki.
This strategic move positions the Dodgers with approximately $6 million available to extend an enticing offer to Sasaki, reflecting their commitment to securing top international talent.
