The Minnesota Twins are one MLB team has has overachieved this season.

Not many people thought they would be a playoff team, but they have a commanding lead in the AL Central with only a few weeks to play.

Many players have emerged on the Twins this year.

But, no one has had a more significant impact of late than Royce Lewis.

The 24-year-old has seemingly put it all together this year.

According to MLB Network, Lewis has led MLB in RBI since August 15.

Also, he is batting .308 with 15 home runs and 52 RBI on the year.

But the path to this point for Lewis has been anything but smooth.

He has suffered some extensive setbacks on his way to major league success.

Lewis has torn the ACL in his right knee two times in the past two years.

That is an injury rarely seen in baseball, and Lewis had to overcome it twice.

After being the first overall pick in 2017, monster expectations followed Lewis everywhere.

We have seen many first-overall picks fail to make the major leagues due to injuries.

But, Lewis would not accept that as his fate.

Now as the Twins are getting set for the playoffs, Lewis will need to play a massive role in their success.

He has been their best hitter over the past month and has shown no signs of slowing down.

It may have taken longer than expected, but Lewis has established himself as one of the top young players in baseball.
