Hammers fans will be seriously riled up after official Premier League announcement ahead of Liverpool vs West Ham clash

The Hammers fans will not be happy one little bit with an official Premier League announcement ahead of the Liverpool vs West Ham game on Sunday.

West Ham head to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend, looking to avoid back-to-back defeats.

Hammers boss David Moyes will be delighted with his side’s start this season, but a defeat against the Reds would put a real dampener on things.

Liverpool away certainly won’t be an easy game – they seem to have found their stride once again under Jurgen Klopp after a difficult campaign last season.

And it seems as though things could be very difficult for us on Merseyside this Sunday coming…

Hammers fans will be seriously riled up after official Premier League announcement ahead of Liverpool vs West Ham clash

The Premier League have today announced that Chris Kavanagh will referee the match at Anfield this weekend.

West Ham have history with the 38-year-old Greater Manchester-born ref.

We have lost eight of the 20 games that Kavanagh has taken charge of, and have won only seven of those (Transfermarkt).

He’s been involved in some controversial decisions when refereeing our games as well.

Hammers boss David Moyes was left fuming with Kavanagh and the VAR officials after we were denied a late penalty against Liverpool at the London Stadium back in April when Thiago clearly handled the ball inside his own box (Sky Sports).

In addition to that, the 38-year-old was the man who inexplicably sent-off Fabian Balbuena during our defeat to Chelsea at the London Stadium a couple of years ago. It was a truly shocking decision.

Balbuena kicked the ball and caught a Chelsea player on his follow through. Anyone who understands football could see that it wasn’t a sending off offence. Kavanagh clearly disagreed though.

Getting a result at Anfield on Sunday will be hard enough as it is. And now our task will be made even harder with Chris Kavanagh in the middle officiating the game.

The Liverpool vs West Ham clash should be an enthralling contest. I just hope that it is not spoilt by Kavanagh.
