Discover the Game-Changing Impact of Vinnie Hinostroza on the Milwaukee Admirals’ Offense

The Milwaukee Admirals are showcasing a remarkable offensive talent this season in Vinnie Hinostroza. His ability to alter the course of a game is evident through his incredible speed, powerful shot, and the knack for executing seemingly impossible passes. As of now, he is not only leading the American Hockey League in scoring but is doing so with exceptional skill just a quarter into the 2024-25 season, establishing himself as a key player to watch.

“Vinnie has the innate ability to elevate the performance of his teammates, making the entire squad better,” remarked Admirals teammate Cal O’Reilly. “His creativity, especially during power plays, has been invaluable. He’s been a fantastic addition to our roster.” This synergy is critical for the Admirals as they pursue a successful season.

With Hinostroza in the lineup, the Admirals faced an initial setback in the first game of the 2024-25 season but quickly bounced back to achieve an impressive streak of eight consecutive victories, securing the top position in the AHL standings through October. Notably, Hinostroza contributed to each of those wins, maintaining a remarkable nine-game point streak that extended until November 9.

“My goal is to contribute to the team’s success, and I certainly started strong,” Hinostroza reflected, now tied for the league lead with 28 points across 21 games. “Although my recent performances have slowed compared to my initial pace, I’m focused on regaining that momentum.” His determination to improve is indicative of his commitment to the team.

Hinostroza has consistently made a mark by scoring points in 17 out of Milwaukee’s 21 games this season. His standout moment occurred on October 18 against Rockford, where he not only scored a goal but also provided three assists, leading the Admirals to a decisive 6-3 victory over the IceHogs.

“Vinnie operates like an engine on the ice,” said Admirals coach Karl Taylor. “He’s relentless and has exceptional skating abilities that keep the pressure on the opposition.” His speed and agility are critical assets that make him a formidable player.

After spending a year with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization, Hinostroza chose to join the Admirals, seeking an opportunity to continue his career while playing for a prestigious organization. “The historical success of Milwaukee was highly appealing to both me and my family,” Hinostroza shared. “Everyone aspires to be part of a winning team.”

Playing in Southeast Wisconsin also provided the added benefit of proximity to his hometown, allowing him to balance his professional commitments with family life. “It’s been an incredible experience for my family to be in Milwaukee,” Hinostroza noted. “I can stay at home, keep my kids in the same school, and make the commute easily, which has been a blessing.”

Coach Taylor values having a player with such extensive experience in the NHL on his team. “Vinnie has played nearly 400 games in the NHL,” Taylor remarked. “He sought an organization that would allow him to stay closer to home, and we’re thrilled to have him and his family as part of our journey. Plus, his leadership on the bench has been outstanding.”

To date, Hinostroza boasts an impressive record of 54 goals and 151 points across 374 games in the NHL. Drafted in the sixth round by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2012, he initially joined his hometown team after two successful years of collegiate hockey at the University of Notre Dame.

Upon turning professional, he divided his time between Rockford and Chicago, appearing in 106 NHL games with the Blackhawks from 2015-2018. After his stint in Chicago, Hinostroza played for Arizona, achieving a notable 16-goal and 39-point season in 2018-19, followed by a term with Florida. His journey continued with a second period in Chicago and two seasons mainly spent with Buffalo (2021-2023).

Last year, the versatile player split his time between Pittsburgh (14 games) and the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (42 games). Given his impressive NHL background, Hinostroza is a player that Nashville is keenly observing for potential future call-ups.

“Looking at how Vinnie is performing, he should undoubtedly be playing in the NHL because he’s too talented for this level,” O’Reilly emphasized. “He’s an exceptional player, and we’re fortunate to have him, especially considering his scoring ability and leadership qualities.”

Hinostroza is undeniably the driving force behind Milwaukee’s offensive strategy this season. Around Thanksgiving, he showcased his scoring prowess by netting three goals over four games and had a remarkable four-point performance in a tight 6-5 loss against Cleveland on November 24.

He has developed excellent chemistry with several younger teammates, particularly his regular linemate Reid Schaefer, a second-year power forward whose playing style contrasts with Hinostroza’s. “Playing with Vinnie has been an exciting experience,” Schaefer commented. “He’s a pass-first player with remarkable speed. If I can get him the puck, I know he’ll locate me.”

Milwaukee has a strong history of providing veteran players with opportunities to reclaim their spots in the NHL. Players like Jarred Tinordi, Colin Blackwell, Rocco Grimaldi, and Mark Jankowski are examples of individuals who earned extended NHL careers after showcasing their skills in Milwaukee over recent seasons.

Defenseman Nick Blankenburg recently made the leap back to the NHL after completing 13 games in Milwaukee this season. Many believe Hinostroza could be next in line for a call-up.

“We’ve genuinely enjoyed having Vinnie on our team,” Taylor stated. “How long he’ll be with us is uncertain, especially if he maintains his current level of performance. We hope he achieves everything he desires this season.”

For now, Hinostroza is focused on helping Milwaukee return to the level of play that propelled their fast start to the season.
