The Royals currently have a well-defined catching duo in Salvador Perez and Freddy Fermin, which positions Maile as a valuable depth option within their minor league system. With Perez, Fermin, and Brian O’Keefe being the only catchers on the active roster with Major League Baseball experience, Maile’s impressive nine years in the majors significantly enhances the team’s depth chart. Throughout his career, Maile has donned the jerseys of five different teams, typically taking on the role of backup or part-time catcher.
