Malik Nabers and Six Players Absent from Practice

Minnesota Vikings News and Links, 12 March 2024

The New York Giants resumed their practice sessions on Tuesday afternoon as they gear up for an important Week 17 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This practice was strategically scheduled one day earlier than usual to allow the players a well-deserved break on Wednesday, coinciding with Christmas Day. Consequently, an official injury report was not released on Tuesday; however, the current injury report serves as a forecast for the team’s situation.

Prior to the holiday break, head coach Brian Daboll addressed the media, providing insights into the team’s preparations and outlook. He emphasized the need to focus on the upcoming game while managing player health. When asked about linebacker Micah McFadden, Daboll confirmed, “No. He’s not going to go today. It’s early in the week,” indicating that the team is taking a cautious approach with injured players.

Daboll continued to share updates on other players, stating, “I’ll just give you guys that aren’t, right now. So, (Tyrone) Tracy (Jr.), he won’t practice. Again, it’s Tuesday, so it’s a little different.” He listed several players who are sidelined, including Malik Nabers, John Michael Schmitz Jr., Greg Stroman Jr., Raheem Layne, Cory Durden, and McFadden, highlighting the challenge the team faces as they prepare for the Colts.

All members of the coaching staff and front office are also taking the day off on Wednesday to celebrate the holiday. However, Daboll confirmed that quarterback Drew Lock is anticipated to start, which is a significant update for the team’s offensive strategy. “I think Drew will be ok,” he stated, instilling confidence in Lock’s readiness for the crucial game.

The Giants’ projected injury report for Wednesday outlines the current status of players as follows:

Did not participate: LB Micah McFadden (neck), RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. (ankle), WR Malik Nabers (toe), OL John Michael Schmitz (ankle), CB Greg Stroman (shoulder/shin), S Raheem Layne (knee), DT Cory Durden (shoulder).
