If defensive tackles in the NFL are akin to Infinity Stones, then Miami Dolphins’ general manager Chris Grier is undoubtedly operating in his Thanos era. According to a report by Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, the Dolphins have successfully secured a deal with Teair Tart, marking him as the sixth defensive tackle to join the roster this offseason. This strategic move highlights the team’s commitment to strengthening their defensive line and ensuring they can compete at the highest level.

Teair Tart, who is 27 years old, comes with a solid background as a four-year NFL veteran. He initially signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent following the 2020 NFL Draft, showcasing his resilience and determination. Although he was released on December 16, he was quickly picked up off waivers and concluded the 2023 season with the Houston Texans. His journey through the league reflects his adaptability and potential to make a significant impact on the field.

Over the last three seasons, Tart has consistently participated in at least 11 games, demonstrating his reliability and ability to contribute effectively. In 2023, he found his stride, recording 24 total tackles and 11 tackles for a loss, as noted by Statmuse. His performance during the 2022 season was particularly impressive, featuring a career-high of 1.5 sacks and six passes defended, highlighting his versatility and skill set in the trenches. His addition to the Dolphins is expected to bolster their defense significantly.

With Christian Wilkins now with the Las Vegas Raiders, having contributed 58 pressures, 33 run stops, and 10 sacks, the Dolphins are keen on employing a rotation strategy to fill the void left by his departure, which amounts to 895 snaps of production that need to be replaced. The team is recognizing the importance of depth in the defensive line, especially in a competitive league like the NFL, where every play counts.

In addition to Teair Tart, the Miami Dolphins have also acquired several other defensive players including Benito Jones, Jonathan Harris, Neville Gallimore, Isaiah Mack, and Daviyon Nixon to rejuvenate their defensive unit. However, even with Tart’s signing, the Dolphins are still eyeing the upcoming draft as a critical opportunity to further enhance their defensive line. The potential for adding talent through the draft remains a key focus for the franchise, as they aim to build a formidable defense.
