Montreal Canadiens Exercise Patience in Goaltending Decisions Involving Jake Allen
Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports that the Montreal Canadiens are currently managing a three-goalie system with Samuel Montembeault, Jake Allen, and Cayden Primeau. While this arrangement is not optimal, it has proven to be manageable thus far. The Canadiens are open to trading Allen and are actively engaging with other teams; however, they are not in a rush and are comfortable if no trade occurs until the offseason. General Manager Kent Hughes emphasized last week that their goaltending situation has not hindered the team’s performance. “Overall, our goaltending has been excellent all season. Many in the market want a quick resolution, often expecting trades by the deadline, but as we learned last year, sometimes these matters are best handled in the summer. We will act if the opportunity arises; otherwise, I am confident we will find a solution before the next season begins.”
