FC Barcelona have officially announced that rising star Alejandro Balde has signed a new long-term contract with the club, committing his future until the summer of 2028.
“FC Barcelona and the player Alejandro Balde have reached an agreement for a new contract which will take the player through to 30 June 2028. The buy-out clause is set at 1 billion euros,” the official statement from the club read.
As confirmed by the club, Balde’s new contract runs until the summer of 2028 and has a mammoth release clause worth €1 billion.
The formal signing and presentation of the new contract will take place tomorrow afternoon, the club have confirmed.
A product of the La Masia youth setup, Balde made his first-team debut with Ronald Koeman at the helm.
However, it was during the 2022/23 campaign that he well and truly flourished, establishing himself as the first-choice left-back for Xavi Hernandez, pushing Jordi Alba out of the lineup.
Balde has just gone from strength to strength and is now a regular in the Spanish national team as well.
A new deal for the 19-year-old had been in the works for some time and an agreement had been reached before the pre-season tour of the US.
There was reported interest from Manchester City in the young left-back, but eventually, he has signed a new deal with Barcelona until 2028.
Balde was registered as a first-team member earlier this summer and was even handed the No. 3 shirt by the club given that the new contract was already agreed upon.
