Superb silver for Sammi in 800m last – as Melanie clocks PB
Sammi Kinghorn made it 2 silver medals from 2 finals at the Paralympics in Paris on Tuesday.
The Scot followed up her 2nd location in the 800m last on Sunday night with a repeat podium location in the T54 1500m.
Swiss professional athlete Catherine Debrunner was the Paralympic champ as soon as again – and Sammi got back in 3:16.01 for an excellent silver provided her strengths have actually generally remained in much shorter sprint races.
‘Who would have thought a sprinter was going to win a medal in a 1500m? I certainly did not, I thought I was looking for fourth, maybe squeeze a third place,’ she smiled.

‘I knew she (Debrunner) was going to go fast, and I just thought ‘I am going to get as close to you as possible’.

Sammi, coached by Rodger Harkins, came through the warms on Monday early morning just hours after being on the 800m podium.
‘This Games is going very well,’ she stated.
‘It’s tough to win a medal and put it in the drawer and press it away. I am going to need to do the very same with this one as I’ve still got 3 races to go, so it is getting more difficult and more difficult to go to sleep each night and not think of them.
‘I’ll shot and get an early night tonight to be all set for my 100m tomorrow.’
Melanie Woods was 8th because last with 3:23.37.
‘It wasn’t my finest race,’ stated Mel.
‘The race on Monday was quicker, and I felt more comfy in the heat, so for me I seemed like I was chasing after and not discovering rhythm today which is aggravating.
‘I ran out lanes in lane 2 and 3 and I believe the long method around simply cost me locations. I believed I would be greater up, however I enjoy with chasing after tough and seeing what I might do.
‘I thought this race would go out quite fast, so I knew I had to go hard from the beginning and hang on for as long as I could. It went how I thought it would.’
