PING Unveils the Revolutionary G440 Family, Featuring Cutting-Edge Engineering for Unmatched Speed and Distance in Golf Drivers
Explore the Innovative G440 Driver Models for Enhanced Performance
The newly designed G440 family from PING offers an exceptional lineup of custom-fit, custom-built drivers, which includes three distinct models: the MAX, LST, and SFT. Each model is engineered to cater to different golfer needs, ensuring everyone can find a perfect fit. The G440 drivers are crafted to provide optimal performance, allowing players to maximize their potential on the course.
For golfers with slower swing speeds, all clubs, except for the LST driver, can be customized with lighter head weights, the ultra-lightweight PING Alta Quick shaft, and a lighter grip as part of the G440 High Launch (HL) option. This customization ensures that players can achieve the best possible launch conditions tailored to their swing style.
“Our commitment to enhancing golfers’ performance and enjoyment of the game reaches new heights with the launch of the G440 family,” stated John K. Solheim, CEO & President of PING. “By integrating multiple advanced technologies across our product categories, the next generation of our ‘G’ franchise is set to deliver increased speed and distance while maintaining the level of forgiveness expected from every PING club.”

The groundbreaking fusion of distance and forgiveness results in unparalleled performance when golfers undergo proper fitting. In our testing, we’ve consistently observed significant benefits, and we are thrilled to introduce the G440 to golfers everywhere, enabling them to experience these advantages firsthand.”
“The adoption of the drivers and fairway woods on tour has been remarkable,” Solheim added. “The G440 LST driver was immediately utilized to secure a win during its debut week on tour, and we are witnessing an increasing number of these drivers being played globally each week.”
Our tour players are impressed with the enhanced ball speeds and frequently comment on the appealing sound and aesthetics. Like all golfers, they are eager for more speed and optimal launch conditions, and they are pleased to find these features in the latest equipment.”
Experience the Lowest Center of Gravity Ever Achieved in a PING Driver
The engineering team behind the new drivers has successfully realized the lowest center of gravity (CG) in a PING driver to date. This innovative design leads to increased ball speed and higher launch potential across the face of the club, achieved through various weight-saving advancements, including the incorporation of Carbonfly Wrap crown technology in all three models.
This combination of a shallower face, lightweight carbon crown, and an internal design known as Free Hosel helps in reducing weight significantly, aligning the CG closer to the force line for enhanced ball speed, optimal spin rates, and higher launch angles.
The reduced face height results in a hotter, thinner face that offers more flex, especially in the high heel area, which is a common mis-hit zone for many golfers.
The Free Hosel design has successfully saved four grams from the hosel area within the club head, playing a crucial role in optimizing the CG location.
“Our engineers have risen to the occasion with the G440 drivers,” Solheim remarked. “As with all our designs, performance improvements are never attributed to a single factor.
They excelled in identifying weight-saving opportunities with innovations like the Free Hosel, achieving our lowest CG position while enhancing the face structure to yield consistent ball speed results across the entire face of the driver.
Golfers can anticipate hitting straighter drives with the G440 drivers, and with the higher launch capabilities, they can also opt for less loft and enjoy increased ball speeds.”
Enhanced Lightweight Design and Longer Shaft for Maximum Distance
Understanding that a thoughtfully designed, lighter overall system weight can lead to increased swing speeds and distance gains, PING has removed mass from the heads and shafts, reducing the overall weight by 10 grams compared to the previous generation. This reduction allows golfers to swing more freely and efficiently.
Additionally, the standard shaft length has been extended by ¼” to 46” for the PING ALTA CB Blue and 45.5” for the PING Tour 2.0 and stock aftermarket options, producing a combination that enhances speed while ensuring forgiveness and improving shot dispersion for players.
“Our decision to increase the shaft length is supported by findings from our research conducted at the PING Proving Grounds, inspired by the remarkable forgiveness delivered by PING drivers,” Solheim explained.
“We recognize that longer clubs generally allow most golfers to achieve faster swings. Thus, we started measuring the impact of a 46” shaft during our fitting sessions. The data indicated that most golfers saw performance improvements, which resulted in higher launches and longer drives with tighter shot dispersion,” he added.

Three Distinct Driver Models Tailored to Meet Every Golfer’s Needs
The G440 MAX (460cc) driver is the most forgiving model, designed to accommodate the majority of golfers. It features a 29-gram, three-position adjustable back weight for enhanced shot control and performance.
Golfers looking for low spin and increased control will find the G440 LST (Low Spin) model appealing. This 450cc design also includes the 29-gram adjustable back weight, making it ideal for players with faster swing speeds.
For those seeking slice-correction technology, the 460cc G440 SFT (Straight Flight) model is the perfect fit, equipped with a two-position (Draw and Draw+) adjustable 23-gram back weight to help improve accuracy.
All three models come with the 8-setting Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel, allowing for a loft adjustment of +/- 1.5° and lie adjustments up to 3° flatter from standard settings.
“A core design principle throughout the G440 driver family is ‘optimization,’” Solheim remarked. “This encompasses everything from head size and shape to ensuring each model is tailored to fit specific player profiles.
Our team has taken a thoughtful approach to ensure that each model offers a fitting solution that meets the diverse needs of every golfer.
The MAX model caters to all skill levels, from tour players to higher handicappers, while the SFT and LST models allow fitters to refine results that best address individual golfer requirements.
This presents an exciting opportunity for golfers to achieve longer and straighter drives, and we are eager to conduct fitting tests with the G440 drivers.
We are confident that they will excel in head-to-head comparisons against competitors.”
Introducing a New 9° Loft in SFT for Enhanced Performance Among Fast-Swinging Golfers
The SFT (Straight Flight Technology) model, designed to position the CG for a right-to-left shot shape, is now available in a 9° loft to address the needs of a growing number of new golfers.
“Our extensive fitting research has highlighted a segment of golfers who are new to the sport, highly athletic, and possess extremely fast swings, yet still require the slice correction offered by the SFT model,” Solheim stated.
“The introduction of a 9-degree loft enables these athletes to leverage their physical capabilities while keeping their shots on the fairway. This exemplifies our relentless quest to provide golfers with fitting solutions that enhance their performance on the course.”
