Goaltender Matt Tomkins grew to become the a hundred and fiftieth IceHogs alumni to succeed in the NHL on Oct. 15, 2023 when he began for the Tampa Bay Lightning in opposition to the Ottawa Senators.
Tomkins spent elements of three seasons from 2017 to 2021 within the Stateline space with Rockford and laced up the skates for complete video games with the IceHogs. During his IceHogs tenure, he posted an 11-20-3 file, 3.56 goals-against common, and an .896 save proportion. Tomkins was initially a seventh-round choose by the Blackhawks within the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
After showing in 15 video games in 2020-21 with Rockford, Tomkins performed two seasons in Sweden with Frolunda and Farjestads earlier than signing a two-year contract with Tampa Bay in May of 2023. Last season with Farjestads, Tomkins recorded a 20-12-2 file, 2.53 goals-against common, and a .911 save proportion.
