The Sean Payton era of the Denver Broncos hasn’t gotten off to a good start, with Russell Wilson and company dropping the first two games of the 2023 NFL season by losing to the Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders.
As if losing to two teams the Broncos were expected to beat early in the season wasn’t bad enough, these losses came at home in Denver at Empower Field at Mile High.
After the disappointing loss to the Commanders, Payton’s frustration was evident, as he pointed out that the Broncos couldn’t tackle during the Week 2 showdown with Washington, via Mike Klis of 9 News.

Even though the Broncos have a lot of issues on both sides of the football and could be in for another long and disappointing season, Denver did see some improvement out of Wilson, who threw for 308 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
Despite getting sacked seven times, Wilson kept the Broncos in the game and threw a Hail Mary touchdown pass to Brandon Johnson with time expiring in the fourth quarter.
Unfortunately, Denver needed to convert a two-point conversion to tie the game and send it into overtime, but failed to convert and suffered the team’s second loss of the season.
Although there were some signs of promise for the Broncos, things will only get tougher for Payton and company in Week 3, as they’ll travel to Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins, who have won their first two games and look like one of the best teams in the league, especially on the offensive side of the football.
