Troubled guard Kevin Porter Jr. of the Houston Rockets got in trouble off the floor once again recently, resulting in the 23-year-old getting arrested for an alleged domestic violence incident with his girlfriend.
As a result of Porter’s most recent incident, the Rockets are finally ready to part ways with the former first-round pick, as they’ve made him available on the trade market.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Rockets are willing to attach “several draft picks” in a deal involving Porter as a way to intrigue other teams to take on his contract, which only has one more year guaranteed at close to $16 million.
At this point, it’s pretty clear that no team in the league is going to want to deal with Porter’s off-the-court antics and bad decisions, so he’s likely played his last game in the NBA, but Houston wants to get something in return for him.

With the Rockets supposedly engaged with multiple teams on a Porter trade, it may be only a matter of time before something gets done, and Houston can simply walk away from this situation.
The Rockets are trying to right the ship in Houston with the team bringing in head coach Ime Udoka and signing free agents Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks over the summer.
The franchise is likely embracing Udoka’s no-nonsense attitude, which means a player like Porter, who clearly has some issues off the floor and is not focused on basketball, won’t be tolerated and, therefore, traded the first chance the team gets before next season.
