Star transfer to Wolves or West Ham under £25m concerns manager

Nigel Pearson, the manager of Bristol City, asserts that the valuation of Alex Scott should soar to £30 million as top Premier League clubs including Wolves, West Ham, Newcastle, and Tottenham Hotspur are keenly monitoring the Championship’s standout Young Player of the Year.

As Bristol City gears up for their league opener against Preston North End at Ashton Gate, Pearson, known for his candid remarks, emphasizes that he would be extremely dissatisfied if his talented midfielder were to depart for a fee lower than £25 million. His insistence reflects the club’s commitment to retaining Scott, who has emerged as a pivotal figure in their squad.

Beware of provoking Nigel Pearson—his frustration is palpable when it comes to protecting his key players.

Wolves recently attempted to secure Scott with a bid of £20 million, which was promptly rejected. According to reports from The Telegraph, the Molineux side is trying to navigate their financial constraints while pursuing one of the brightest prospects in the English Football League. If no extraordinary offer is presented before the transfer window closes in early September, Scott will likely remain a vital playmaker for Bristol City until at least January, showcasing his talents in the South West region.

Wolves’ Bid for Alex Scott Rejected by Bristol City

“There have been multiple bids for him,” Pearson informed the BBC. “However, our objective remains to retain him as a vital part of our squad.

“I am unsure of the total number of bids received. Nonetheless, our club’s position has been clearly communicated. For any club to engage in discussions with him, the price starts at £25 million.

“Reports suggest offers of around £21 million have circulated in various media outlets. I’ve even noticed some journalists questioning whether our asking price is excessively high.

“However, they seem to overlook a crucial fact: our intention is not to sell him. This is precisely why we have set his valuation at this level. In fact, having observed his performance since the beginning of pre-season, I believe we should actually be asking for £30 million, rather than just £25 million!”

Scott, who has earned the nickname ‘Guernsey Grealish’ for his resemblance in style to Manchester City’s star player, is also attracting interest from Crystal Palace, AFC Bournemouth, Newcastle United, and Tottenham.

West Ham initiated discussions back in June, as reported by The Standard, underscoring Scott’s prominence in the current transfer landscape.

It speaks volumes about Scott’s maturity and dedication that the 19-year-old is managing to stay focused amidst the continuous transfer speculation surrounding him.

“Ultimately, we as a club have established that he is priced at £25 million as a minimum. If he were to leave for less than this, it would truly displease me, and I can state that unequivocally,” Pearson asserted firmly.

“From my perspective, we have made a definitive statement as a club, and we find ourselves in a solid financial position. All these factors combined indicate that retaining Alex is crucial for our strength moving forward.”
