The 14 players who left Reading at the end of last season and where they are now

Reading endured a turbulent summer transfer window with their financial problems and relegation meaning a whole host of players moved onto pastures new.

Reading boss Ruben Selles led a rebuild of the Royals’ playing squad as they geared up for League One football. The hope will be that the new additions can bring some stability to proceedings but a poor start to the season leaves them in 18th.

A host of players left Reading across the first-team and U21s and here, we take a look at where they are now…

Scott Dann

As has proven the case with a fair few of the players to have left the Royals at the end of last season, veteran centre-back Scott Dann is still without a club.

Luke Southwood

Southwood starred on loan at Cheltenham Town previously and upon his release, the Robins made the wise move to snap him up on a free transfer.

Shane Long

Shane Long is another experienced player to have remained with a club since his exit from Reading in the summer.

Liam Moore

Like Long and Dann, former Reading captain Liam Moore is also without a club. At 30, it might not be long before we see him back in the game though.

Lucas Joao

Angolan forward Joao made an eye-catching move to China with Shanghai Port shortly after his Reading deal expired. He has three goals and an assist to his name in his first three games for the club.

Dejan Tetek

As a versatile 20-year-old with Championship experience to his name, Tetek is somewhat surprisingly still a free agent. He could prove a solid addition for a team lower down the EFL or in the National League.

Junior Hoilett

Canadian winger Hoilett is still a free agent too. His vast amount of Championship experience could make him a valuable asset for someone as a free agent but time will tell just where he ends up.

Yakou Meite

Ivorian forward Meite managed to secure a Championship move, joining Cardiff City. He’s played a part in four league games thus far, starting the last two for Erol Bulut’s side.

While there was a string of senior departures, a number of U21s also moved on. Here’s where they are now…

Lui Bradbury – without a club

Ethan Burnett – Aldershot

Nahum Melvin-Lambert – Weymouth

Kian Leavy – St. Patrick’s Athletic

Claudio Osorio – without a club

Rashawn Scott – without a club
