The Mets Have Had A Lot Change In 1 Full Year

The New York Mets have been one of the most disappointing teams in baseball this season.

Last season the Mets won 101 games and were the first NL Wild Card team.

They wish they could be in Wild Card contention this season.

Instead, the Mets have fallen flat on their face and they will miss the playoffs for the fifth time in six years.

The Mets entered this season with high expectations after a few key offseason moves.

The big move was signing Justin Verlander to a two-year contract in the offseason.

He was the reigning AL Cy Young winner and was expected to help turn around the Mets pitching staff.

Instead, Verlander was not healthy to begin the year and the Mets suffered for it.

His first start of the year did not come until May 4.

He pitched to an ERA of 3.15 with the Mets in 16 starts.

That was good enough to get him traded to the Houston Astros and for the Mets to receive a nice prospect in return.

Once the deadline came the Mets knew they were out of the race.

That is why they were sellers and moved Verlander along with Max Scherzer.

This has been a lost season for the Mets, and one that many fans did not see coming.
