The Detroit Tigers are hoping to find their way back to relevancy.

After many years of struggling, more of the same occurred in 2023.

The Tigers are in a long rebuild and need to make smart moves to get back to contention.

Detroit is one of the worst teams in baseball this year but they have a solid farm system.

What the Tigers need is an aggressive front office willing to make necessary moves.

The Tigers have been looking for a new GM for a while.

According to Jeff Passan, they have finally settled on one.

Detroit has agreed to hire Jeff Greenberg as their new general manager.

Greenberg has spent this past year not even in baseball.

He was the associate GM for the Chicago Blackhawks but does have a history in a front-office role with the Chicago Cubs.

Greenberg will be the number two in Detroit behind President of Baseball Operations Scott Harris.

The Tigers have spent years being bad and had many top draft picks.

Some of those picks have already paid dividends on the major league team.

Spencer Torkelson was their first overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft.

He has 29 home runs and 85 RBI on the year.

Also, they have Riley Greene who was their first-round pick in the 2019 draft.

He is batting .288 on the year with an OPS close to .800.

The Tigers still have a long way to go to be competitive, but hopefully for the organization and the fans, Greenberg can continue to lead them in the right direction.
