
Nigeria Advances to the Quarter-Finals of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Following Thrilling 2-2 Draw Against Kenya
In an exciting match at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, Nigeria effectively protected their area in the quarter-finals of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations with a significant 2-2 draw versus Kenya. This essential outcome, integrated with Morocco’s</b impressive 3-1 victory over Tunisia in the other Group B match, allowed Nigeria to finish the group stage in second place with a total of five points. Unfortunately, Kenya concluded their tournament campaign with just one point from three matches, unable to advance further.
Despite facing elimination, the Kenyan team showcased remarkable resilience throughout the match, taking the lead on two occasions. The scoring commenced in the sixth minute when Kevin Injehu converted a penalty after a VAR review confirmed a handball by Emmanuel Chukwu. However, Nigeria responded swiftly, with Kparobo Arierhi equalizing in the 13th minute, courtesy of a brilliant assist from Simon Cletus.
Kenya struck again in the 68th minute with a goal from substitute William Gitama, but Nigeria wasn’t done yet.
