The St. Louis Cardinals are not having the season that they hoped for.
Many people had them as the favorites to win the NL Central this year.
Instead, they are in last place in the Central with only two weeks left in the season.
Just about everything has gone wrong for the Cardinals this year and it has left many baseball fans speechless.
Even though they have nothing to play for in September as a team, there is one player who was chasing a career milestone.
Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright needed one win to reach 200 for his career.
He was able to get that win on Monday after pitching a dominant seven scoreless innings.
As shared by STL Sports Central, Wainwright was emotional after getting a standing ovation from the Cardinals crowd after the win.

It has been a long time coming for Wainwright, who has struggled this whole year.
He only needed five wins coming into the year and it took him until the final two weeks of the season to get it.
Wainwright has already said that this will be the final season of his career.
So getting win No. 200 knowing he was running out of time on the season was great to see.
Wainwright has spent his entire career as a member of the Cardinals.
He was called up by them in 2005 and had many memorable seasons up to 2023.
In what has been a terrible season for the Cardinals, Wainwright has made the last month enjoyable.
The Cardinals will use their last series of the season as a farewell to Wainwright as he hangs up the cleats.
