ST Racing is excited to share that co-owner Samantha Tan will be making her highly anticipated IMSA debut, competing throughout the entire season of the newly established GTDX class in the VP Racing Sportscar Challenge. This marks a significant milestone in her racing career as she takes on a new level of competition.
As a brand ambassador for BMW North America, Samantha will embark on her inaugural solo campaign, driving the ST Racing BMW M4 GT3 in the Sportscar Challenge, which serves as the official support series for the prestigious IMSA SportsCar Championship. This opportunity represents an exciting new chapter in her journey as a race car driver.
Since 2022, ST Racing has successfully competed with the BMW M4 GT3, achieving the brand’s historic first overall victory in this series. In the GT World Challenge America, the team notched up three class victories and secured seven additional podium finishes in 2024, culminating in a fiercely contested runners-up position in both the GTWC PRO/AM Driver and Team standings. Prior to this, ST Racing triumphed in the GT4 America West Pro-Am Cup in 2019 and clinched the GT4 SprintX Silver Teams’ title in 2020. In 2021, they were crowned the Overall GT Teams’ champion in the European endurance 24H SERIES, showcasing their prowess in international racing.
This wealth of championship-winning experience, combined with an in-depth understanding of the BMW M4 and a strong team dynamic, has motivated Samantha to embrace one of the most challenging endeavors of her career—her first solo GT3 campaign set for 2025.
Samantha Tan, driver and team co-owner, expressed her enthusiasm: “I’m absolutely thrilled to announce my entry into IMSA for 2025, which is recognized as one of the most competitive and prestigious racing series in North America. My inaugural full GT3 season this year has been immensely rewarding, compelling me to make the most of every single moment on and off the track. I am eager to tackle the challenges posed by a new multi-class format featuring LMP3, GT3, and GT4 cars, while continuously sharpening my skills against some of the best drivers in the sport. My heart is set on the VP Challenge championship title, and I am entering this season with unwavering determination.”
Kenneth Tan, team co-owner, shared his insights: “Our team has been keen to enter IMSA since 2022, but the circumstances weren’t quite right for us. Now, we are excited to take this significant step, and the VP Racing Sportscar Challenge presents a fantastic opportunity for us to dip our toes into the new world of IMSA racing. We had a small taste of it when Samantha participated in the IMSA-officiated Ferrari Challenge a couple of years ago, but this is a completely different experience. This new venture poses a thrilling challenge for our team, and we can’t wait to embrace it. The anticipation to be at Daytona next month is palpable!”
The inaugural season for the VP Racing Sportscar Challenge, which will include GT3 competitors, comprises six rounds and 12 races, kicking off with the ‘Roar before the Rolex 24’ at the iconic Daytona International Speedway from January 17-19. This event will mark Samantha Tan Racing’s official participation leading up to the renowned Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The second round of the season is set to take place at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas from February 28 to March 1. Known for its lucrative circuits, ST Racing has previously achieved six class victories across three different series at COTA. This race weekend will also coincide with ST Racing’s first program during an official NASCAR Cup Series weekend, adding an extra layer of excitement.
Following the third round at Mid-Ohio from June 6-8, ST Racing will make a long-awaited return to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on July 11-13. This race will be particularly special as it marks the team’s first competition in Canada since 2017, when they participated in the Pirelli World Challenge series with their BMW M235iR.
The 2025 season will conclude with two additional rounds at Virginia International Raceway and Road Atlanta on August 22-24 and October 8-11, respectively, wrapping up what promises to be an exhilarating year for ST Racing.
